N3RVE's Conundrum

Fix: Kubuntu (KDE) Opening Folders in Archive Manager

I had installed KDE on my computer running Ubuntu 10.10 but didn’t get to test it until yesterday & shortly after, I had a problem. For some reason, Archive Manager kept trying to open any directories I clicked to open, as such I couldn’t see the content of the directories and Archive Manager left me with these errors:

Could not create the archive. Archive type not supported.

This is how you fix it:

View the “Properties” for a directory on your Desktop Folder (Create one if you don’t have a folder), under the “General” tab, click on the screw driver beside “Type”, under “Application Preference Order”, select “Archive Manager” and hit remove. I tried to just select “Dolphin”, apply & leave but it didn’t fix the issue, so I’ll suggest you remove “Archive Manager”, hit the apply button and Ok out. I hope this helps someone :)
